Finesteres is a collection of oil paintings on cardboard made during the most restrictive days of Spanish quarantine in spring of 2020.
I collected some boxes from my neighborhood grocery store and repurposed them as a surface for daily paintings of the sky as seen from my home. The paintings are framed in the middle of the flattened boxes, revealing the packaging design and showing the marks and scratches from their previous use.
I’m interested in the poetic contrasts of movement: In a context of global crisis, shipping boxes are one of the few objects on the move, while the the only landscape we can see from the stasis of our homes is the sky, visible through our windows
